ABOUT US

Welcome to the Black Class Action Secretariat (BCAS), a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the working conditions of marginalized workers across Canada’s public institutions. BCAS was founded to address the systemic discrimination, racism and harassment that has long affected workers, and continues to lead efforts to dismantle employment barriers through national campaigns, workshops, training, advocacy, and policy reform.

At BCAS, we believe that equity and merit go hand in hand. Fair workplaces recognize talent, foster opportunity, and create environments where everyone can thrive. While our focus is on confronting anti-Black racism, this work lays the foundation for fairness for all underrepresented groups. By promoting inclusive practices, supporting accountability, and empowering workers, BCAS is helping to build a stronger, more just, and more productive Canada for everyone.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Black Class Action Secretariat (BCAS) is to improve the working conditions of marginalized workers in Canada’s public institutions by dismantling systemic barriers and advancing equity. We pursue this mission through bold advocacy, high-impact national campaigns, transformative education, and targeted policy reform, working in close collaboration with unions, civil society organizations, legal experts, and government partners. Together, we drive institutional change, eliminate exclusion, and help build a public service rooted in fairness, opportunity, and justice for all.

Vision Statement

Our vision is a future where all workers are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect in every public institution, free from systemic racism and discrimination. We envision a just society where racism, is eradicated, and all individuals, regardless of race, have equal access to opportunity, fair treatment, and inclusive workplaces.

Guided by our commitment to advocacy, education, and collective action, we strive to build a country where equity is not an ideal, but a lived reality for Black communities and for all.
